"Registered Design" covered outward appearance "Patents" covered physical/electro-mechanical features. On the 12th December 1962, JMI applied for two Trade Marks for the "Vox Continental", one in "Class 15" (for musical instruments) the other "Class 9", a category encompassing items intended for a variety of applications: photographic, cinematographic, sound recording, wireless (radio), and so on.
